Veteran's Park Revitalization Project

The Elm Grove Beautification Committee's Invasive Species Task Force was established during the summer of 2020 while working closely with the Brookfield East Students Encouraging Environmental Dedication (SEED) Club. Work started in 2021 on removing invasive species from Elm Grove's Veteran's Park when students identified the potential for the space. Work has continued, but due to a very heavy infestation of invasive thistle (Cirsium arvense) and reed canary grass (Phalaris arundinacea) in the southern end, the group has been unable to effectively make progress.

In the fall of 2023, the Elm Grove Junior Guild granted the Beautification Committee $500 to obtain a comprehensive site plan from a respected local landscape design company, Native Roots. This plan was to help assist with controlling invasive species and to increase native plant diversity.

The Beautification Committee is calling on all Elm Grove residents to help raise funds for Native Roots to complete this plan. Ongoing maintenance after the first year will be the combined efforts of the Beautification Committee and Elm Grove Public Works Department.

Please help us revitalize this centralized common space!
