[ARCHIVED] Sewer Project to Close Gebhardt Road at Pilgrim Parkway this Winter

The City of Brookfield and the Village of Elm Grove have been working together to minimize the occurrence and severity of sewer backups in the area south of Gebhardt Road and west and east of Pilgrim Parkway. This winter we will construct a project that will increase the capacity of the sanitary sewer in Pilgrim Parkway, from Pilgrim Park Middle School to Gebhardt Road. The project is scheduled during the winter while the unstable and wet soils in the area are frozen to minimize damage to roadways. This work will require the temporary closure of Gebhardt Road over the Dousman Ditch (just west of the Pilgrim Parkway intersection) for up to six weeks (anticipated to start in January or February). Please watch for and obey all detour signs for this stretch of roadway.
By constructing this project over the winter months we are able to avoid the closure of Pilgrim Parkway throughout the duration of the project, and we will be able to reduce the costs of the project. We understand this will be an inconvenience to many and we appreciate your patience during this time as we work to improve the sewer system.
