On May 8th at 1:00 p.m., the Library's First Friday Film will be a special viewing of The Extraordinary Caterpillar, a film that raises awareness of the importance of insect species, especially Monarch Butterflies. Viewing is sponsored by The Elm Grove Beautification Committee.
Film description: Over 98% of the living world on Earth is smaller than a bee. Yet humans view the planet as a world centered around themselves. Landscapes are deconstructed to suit human needs, often with little regard for the natural systems that sustain the food web. The Extraordinary Caterpillar follows the scientists and community activists with this peek into the dazzling world of nature’s tiniest superheroes. 60m.
Message from the Beautification Committee
The Elm Grove Beautification Committee is in their 4th year of working on the Mayors' Monarch Pledge and are proud to announce that Elm Grove led the state in action items completed in 2025. This year we are attempting to attain the coveted Champions Circle--an honor that only 2-5 communities in the entire nation have achieved each year since the inception of the program in 2015. This entails completing at least 24 of the 29 possible action items.
As a bonus, all attendees will get a coupon good for a free plant at the May 16th native plant and shrub sale featuring 16 native shrub species, 116 native perennials, 3 ferns, and 20 grasses!
